Sailing in San Diego!

When we got back to San Diego our friends Tammy and Bill took us sailing!
Ready to go!
Tammy and I worked together at Providence and she was also our neighbor in Anchorage...
We all loved the sail on this boat!
The happy couple! They are getting married in March...
Coronado bridge and the hotel in the background.
Same beautiful sail with downtown San Diego in the background - can you find the plane that's landing?
It was such a beautiful day for a sail!
It's kind of tough to get a picture that's not lopsided when your on a sailboat...
Wanted to get out of this guys way!
Here comes the Navy yelling at us to get out of the way. Problem was we were under sail - we could only go as fast as the wind would take us.
The Navy's hovercraft - it was pretty impressive.
Stars and Stripes with downtown San Diego.
Stars and Stripes and her sister ship...
The size of boat Scott and I can afford...
Sea Lions being lazy...
Zaya (the boats mascot) watching a jet overhead. It was fleet week in San Diego so there was lots of activity.
Coronado - such a beautiful building.
What surprised me was just how many people were on this boat!
Bill let Scott be Captain for a while...
What a great day!
Back at the dock watching Chris Botti in concert!
Thanks Tammy & Bill - we had a blast!!

Juneau

We couldn't go to Southeast Alaska and not visit Juneau!

My (Ann's) brother Terry, and his family; Tracey, Thane, Melissa & Rebecca. We took the tram up to Mt Roberts and then hiked further up the mountain.
It was one of those gorgeous days in Southeast Alaska when you almost want to move back (then it started raining again...). Looking down Tracy Arm - south of Juneau.
Best sister in law ever! (Then again my brothers have married some pretty crazy ladies...) ;)
Melissa and Rebecca on a very cool toy...
Michael had a layover in Juneau for a few hours so we all went to the park - had to get this picture for Grandma Maxwell!
Michael, Scott, Terry and Thane...
On the way up the Mt Roberts Tram...downtown Juneau and looking across to Douglas Island.
An Eagle from the Raptor Center up on Mt Roberts.
Saw a grouse on the trail...
It is really tough to get everybody to look at the camera at the same time when all they want to do is climb the tree!
This is looking towards the Valley - you can see the airport runway...
Thought this was a beautiful picture - had to wait a few minutes for the tourists to get out of the way...
It was fun to watch this para-sailer catch the wind drafts...

A little farther up - with downtown and the valley in one shot...
Coming back down the tram - advertising space is valuable!
We went to the beach one of the days we were there...it was fun to explore with the girls.
What a cute family!
Melissa and Rebecca showing off for us - it's so much fun being Auntie and Uncle instead of being Mom and Dad! :)

I liked all of the textures going on in this picture...rock, wood, dirt, plants...
Believe it or not we weren't posing - after 22 years we still like each other... :)

Petersburg - The Wedding

We went to Petersburg for Bucky Eddy's wedding (our nephew) - and enjoyed seeing lots of family. The wedding and reception were extremely crowded so it was difficult to get many pictures but here are a few...

We met in Petersburg over 22 years ago...

Hard to believe our baby boy just turned 21 years old...

Sydney was about done being patient by now...but of course still adorable!

Scott's older brother Jack and his wife Karen - so good to catch up with them!

Scott's other older brother Larry and Jamie (Jack's son and the nephew who is older than Ann!) :)
(sorry Jamie - couldn't resist!)

A beautiful sunset during the reception...

Petersburg out the road and more...

We drove out the road to reminisce and visit. Here we all are at Blind Slough...

Sydney loves all the water!

Walked around the harbor for a while - the sea lions were enjoying salmon...

and harassing the dogs! :) This dog kept going from slip to slip to check out the sea lions - this particular sea lion must have been paying attention because he went down for a few moments and then came up and splashed right by the dog - I swear the dog jumped and turned around almost in one motion and headed back to his own's boat! I wish I would have had video running!

Petersburg boat harbor - Scott worked here for several years...

Sons of Norway Hall and the Viking Ship

Two of the days we were there were gorgeous - this is Devil's Thumb

On the plane headed to Juneau...
