Woodford Reserve

This tour was interesting - we all had head sets so it was easy to hear everything that was said - but it made the tour very impersonal. The tour guide appeared to be annoyed at any questions.

Five Sources of Flavor:
Water - Kentucky, iron free well water
Grain - rich and spicy - high in rye (again - others use wheat)
Fermentation - traditional jug yeast process
Distillation - in copper pot stills (others use wood, stainless steel)
Maturation - craft, toast and char our own barrels

These fermentation vats are very large

Very strong yeast smell in here

After this tour I started to wonder if everything Bulleit said was true about being the oldest distiller - this seemed like a
much older process.

Not all tours would allow pictures inside the rick houses due to the fire suppression systems.

Loved these old buildings with the tracks between
them for the barrels.
